"Collide" Graphic Novel Review

Updated: Jul 22, 2023

Title: Collide

Author: Wann

Genre: Action, Fantasy, Romance

Graphic Novel

Rating: 3/5 stars

This story felt a little juvenile, both in the writing and the love story. While I wouldn't say there was anything in the story I hated, and I didn't dislike either of the main characters, there also wasn't anything that I particularly loved.

I enjoy getting invested into a story and the characters involved, and this particular story never truly pulled me in. While it was refreshing that it had a different premise than I usually read, it didn't delve far enough into things.

The characters in this graphic novel had powers (basically genetic mutant powers), and the story centers around a girl that doesn't actually have powers but is connected to the people who do. I'm not going to explain how because I don't want to give away spoilers if anyone wants to read it. However, the love story itself felt somewhat shallow and like many other parts of the story, I don't feel the reader went deep enough with it. Also, I didn't feel the twists in the plot to be surprising enough.

In regards to whether this is a clean read, the main characters are intimate before they are married, there are suggestive scenes, and there is some violence. I wouldn't tell anyone not to read this story, but it also wouldn't be on my recommended list. It is more of a book you pick up when you have nothing else to do but laze in a hammock and flip through pages without too much effort.
