"Daughter of the Emperor" Graphic Novel Review

Title: Daughter of the Emperor

Author: Rino, Yunsul

Genre: Fantasy, Coming of Age

Graphic Novel

Rating: 4/5 stars

This story is about a girl that is reincarnated into a baby born to a bloodthirsty emperor.

I would say the first 2/3 of this story was better than the last third. Mainly just because the last portion of the book felt a little lackluster and didn't have as much drive, or enough of a stressor to keep you on the edge of your seat. At the beginning, the story keeps you curious mostly because of the father figure, who plays a vital role in the story, as is noted by the title. However, as the main character gets older, there is less driving force.

I didn't mind the story, but it is kind of long. It's one of those rare occasions where I would say it actually was a little longer than need be. Either that, or the authors only plotted so far ahead and didn't know where to go with the story at the end, so it could have been reworked a little. I also wouldn't mind if her relationships as she got older were more fleshed out. Though the main character, as well as the side characters, were well-developed.

Clean Read?

There were some violent scenes, and depictions of child abuse that could be triggering to some people. There wasn't much in terms of language or sexually suggestive content, though. There were some issues with the relationships, but the father was, after all, a bloodthirsty emperor.

Enjoy your next adventure!
