"My Fair Footman" Review

Title: My Fair Footman

Author: Original Novel by Lee Jaa, Art by ggory

Genre: Romance, Fantasy

Graphic Novel

Rating: 4/5 stars

This is another one I struggled with rating a little bit as I’m not sure how much to ‘recommend’ it. It’s not that I disliked the story, it just felt perhaps there was something missing overall.

This graphic novel is about a young lady who has grown up pretending to be a boy. There is a whole backstory as to the reasoning behind why she had to do this, and the story takes you through the internal struggle of her trying to understand her identity as a person while being forced to pretend to be a male.

Yet overall, this was mostly a love story, and the main character has to struggle with some issues of who she is and how she fits into the bigger picture, as well as some class struggles. But there was no particular moment that stuck out to me as, ‘this is why I like this story.’ I liked the male lead of this story for the most part, though he did pick on the female lead a little much sometimes and some of his actions were questionable. However, I enjoyed reading about the female lead’s journey.

Clean Read?

There were some suggestive aspects about the story, but I didn’t feel there were a lot of negative points in terms of cleanliness. I just don’t, overall, feel I have a ton to say about this one. It’s an easy read that I wouldn’t dissuade people from picking up.
