Title: One Pair Lady

Genre: Fantasy, Romance

Graphic Novel

Rating: 4/5 stars

This is a story about a woman who makes a living gambling and helps out a young boy. Then she receives a magical artifact and ends up time-traveling ten years into the future!

I liked the art in this story and the storyline was fun. The plot also had a good pace. I enjoyed the aspects of card gambling that were included in the story, it added a unique flavor.

-- SPOILER ALERT --

The reason I didn't give this story five stars is because I find the romance a little unrealistic. Maybe I don't fully understand how connected a person can be when they are a child, and there is that one person they find that shows them kindness. However, it seemed a little fantastical that he would be looking for her for ten years after no signs of her. In most instances, he would have assumed her dead, especially after the lifestyle she was living and the time that passed.

Also, it seemed a little odd that it was a romantic relationship instead of a mom and son relationship. I would have a hard time falling in love with someone I took in as a kid, even if ten years passed and they grew up. I would feel a little wrong about it. Also, why didn't he view her as a mother figure, given the age he was when they met?

Clean Read?

There is some magic, and magical artifacts and creatures in the story. The story was pretty clean in regards to language.

Question for my readers:

Do you think the romance in this story is plausible? Would he have looked for ten years and considered her in a different way than a mother-figure?

Enjoy your next adventure!
