Title: The Villain's Savior

Author: (Original Story) YeonSeulA, (Comic) Myoung Rang, (Art) Zetson

Genre: Fantasy, Romance

Graphic Novel

Rating: 3/5 stars

I went back and forth between giving this story a 3 or 4 rating. Before I say anything else though, I'd like to give a violence warning on this book. If scenes with abuse, gore, or violence disturb you, this is a definite do not read.

In regards to the story itself, I keep thinking I'll like the theme of redemptive stories, and so I will choose to pick one up here or there, but I never get into it as much as I hope. While the female lead was kind and lovable, and you couldn't help but sympathize with how much she cared for this man who was never given a fair chance, it's hard for me to get behind encouraging people to love someone with such a dark personality.

I understand that love can overcome many things, but stories like this in real life can often take a turn for the worse. To sum things up, I would say the story was well-written and kept you wanting to read. The plot kept moving and was well thought out. However, I ended the book feeling a little unsettled due to the whole premise and some of the darker elements. Perhaps these sorts of stories just aren't for me. I would say I'll give up and quit trying, but I have this feeling a part of me will keep looking for that redemptive romance story I truly enjoy. Or who knows, maybe I'll write what I'm looking for one day myself, instead.

In regards to the Christian perspective, this is not one I would consider to be a clean read. As mentioned earlier, there is a lot of violence in this story. There are also suggestive scenes, and darker otherworldly themes.
